Lift-the-Flap First Questions and Answers: What are Feelings?
I ordered this book to address emotions for our 5 and 7 year old sons. It arrived days before their grandmother's funeral. The section dealing with sadness was perfect for their questions concerning our situation.

Love this one!
Has just the right amount of information! Not too overwhelming, but goes deep enough that my 6 yr old and I had a meaningful conversation about how we each behave when we're angry, sad, etc and how we can perhaps cope in different, more healthy ways. He loves lifting the flaps and I love the talks we have. Love this whole series, too!

For children with BIG feelings!
My three-year-old deals with big feelings a lot, so we have tried to help her describe them. This is a great tool. It covers questions about happiness, anger, sadness, worried and sadness. It even covers a particular question about grief and a section on how to deal with your feelings. It's perfect for the young kid trying to figure out how to talk about and deal with their feelings. We LOVE this book!!!

A Must Have!
This book is AWESOME! Our four year old was having trouble expressing his emotions and knowing how to deal with them. This book walks through different feelings and then talks about how to handle them. SO GREAT! It's written so it's easy for younger kids to understand.

Love this book!!
I come from a family with a lot of mental illness/suicide so it is very important for me to help my son understand feelings and ways to cope with them. I want him to be able to cope with things as much as he possibly can and this book is perfect! The first time I read this book was to my son, nieces, and nephew. It was the perfect time to let them know that I am a safe place and they can come to me for anything. My nephews dad also was diagnosed with cancer recently and we read this book after he found out about his dad. I hope this book sticks with him to help him in someway. It’s so important for kids to learn how to express and handle emotions and I think this book is just perfect.

Great Conversation Starter!
I love this book! It teachers out kids that we have many feelings, why we might have such feelings, and what can we do about certain feelings! I like to use this book with my students in conjunction with talking about Zones of Regulation and tools to self-regulate our feelings.

Coping Skills
A lot of the kids books I have come across for feelings teach the names and characteristics of different feelings, but this book goes one step further by teaching coping skills for certain emotions as well as explaining that sometimes things like smiling and crying don't always mean happy or sad.

Great book for kindergartner
This past year has been a rough one for my 5 year old. She lost her grandma, great grandma, and family pet (her grandma’s dog but she was with her almost every day) all within a matter of months. I wanted a book to help navigate her different feelings and emotions through the whole process. I found this book was beneficial. It doesn’t just talk about sad feelings but all feelings. It’s educational but also a really nice read. Plus she loved the lift the flaps.
